Customer Perception
Customers consistently praise the stunning location, beautiful Highland scenery, and elegant decor. The staff are generally described as warm, attentive, and professional, though some reviews noted inconsistencies in service, particularly at breakfast and in the brasserie, with occasional lapses in proactiveness or accuracy. The food, especially at the Bo & Muc brasserie, receives high marks for being outstanding, fresh, and locally sourced. While the Michelin-starred 1887 restaurant is considered good, some found it 'decent but not exceptional' for its status. The extensive whisky and gin collection is a notable highlight. Many guests express a strong desire to return.
The Torridon operates two main dining venues: the Michelin-starred '1887' restaurant, offering a fine dining experience, and the 'Bo & Muc brasserie', which provides a more casual yet high-quality menu. The hotel also boasts a well-stocked whisky and gin bar. Guests can enjoy various activities, including clay pigeon shooting and exploring detailed walking trails around the property, often encountering Highland Coos.
While open year-round, early July was mentioned as a good time for sunny weather and outdoor activities like hiking and clay pigeon shooting. The stunning Highland scenery makes it appealing in various seasons, including winter for a 'wintry elopement' experience.
I honestly don’t think I have ever stayed somewhere quite like the Torridon Hotel. From the moment I arrived, everything was exceptional; the rooms were absolutely beautiful, incredibly well kept, and the level of service was second to none.
Every single member of staff I spoke to was genuinely lovely, polite, welcoming and always happy to help. I can honestly say I don’t have a single complaint. I unfortunately wasn’t feeling well during my stay, and the staff went above and beyond to make me comfortable. They kindly brought breakfast to my room and even provided me with hot water bottles. Those little touches made such a huge difference and really showed how much they genuinely care about their guests.
There are also various activities available, which made the stay even more enjoyable. I did clay pigeon shooting with Veshengo, who was really approachable and friendly. My husband and I had a really good laugh and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
And then there’s the view… honestly, words cannot do justice to how beautiful this place is. The surroundings, the scenery and the hotel itself are absolutely stunning. It’s one of those places that you have to see for yourself to truly appreciate.
I would recommend the Torridon Hotel without hesitation. An absolutely beautiful hotel, incredible staff, amazing experiences and unforgettable views. I genuinely cannot fault my stay and would love to come back.
Our stay at the The Torridon Hotel was nothing short of exceptional.
Without question, one of the most stunning places we have ever had the privilege of staying in. Every detail reflects true 5 star hospitality, from the impeccable service to the breathtaking setting surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in Scotland.
The décor throughout the hotel is elegant, refined and full of character. The staff were warm, attentive and incredibly well trained, making the entire experience feel seamless from beginning to end.
The restaurant itself was a highlight of the stay, a true experience on its own, with outstanding food and atmosphere.
Everything felt thoughtfully curated and exactly as a luxury hotel experience should be. A truly memorable stay, and somewhere we will absolutely return to in the future.
Upon arrival, there were other guests checking in, and I was more than happy to wait until they had finished. However, we were not greeted or acknowledged, nor were we asked to wait in the lobby seating area. After around 10 minutes, a member of staff asked whether we would like some water, but there was no apology for the wait.
Most of the staff throughout the stay were very friendly and welcoming.
This isn’t an issue with the hotel itself, but rather the surrounding area. There are quite a lot of ticks, so if you’re bringing your dog, I’d recommend wearing long trousers and checking both yourself and your pet thoroughly after walks.
The food was generally good, and I would particularly recommend the Brasserie. We also dined at 1887, which was decent but not exceptional. The service got off to a poor start—one of the waiters accidentally splashed champagne on me, and we also had to remind the staff to bring the wine list. Some of the dishes were excellent, while others were fairly ordinary, so overall I’d describe it as an average UK Michelin-starred experience.
Checkout was smooth and efficient, and one highlight worth mentioning is the hotel’s impressive collection of whiskies and gins, which is extensive and well worth exploring.
Lovely location, staff and room. We felt pampered by the staff. Enjoyed the Bo & Muc during our stay ( great food and service). We are visiting all hotels on the Amazing Hotels UK show and Torridon wins. The highland Coos were cute. The walking trail was detailed and picturesque. Will be back!!
It’s a rare achievement to combine true five-star luxury and comfort with such an unpretentious, welcoming atmosphere. Set in one of the most remote and breathtaking locations imaginable, the experience feels both elevated and grounded in its surroundings.
What makes it truly special, though, is the staff—genuinely kind, attentive, and effortlessly friendly—who ensure every stay feels personal and memorable.
For those who love hiking, it’s an ideal base: spend the day out in the wild Highland landscape, then return to beautifully appointed rooms, exceptional dining, and an outstanding whisky bar. Don’t miss the pub either, as it add even more charm and character to an already remarkable place.
