Wexford is Savannah's authentic Irish pub, offering a vibrant atmosphere with live music and rich Irish heritage. Located in the bustling City Market area, it's known for its welcoming charm, exceptional service, and perfectly poured drinks. The menu features hearty Irish-inspired dishes alongside American favorites.
Customers consistently praise Wexford for its great food, lively music (including Irish/Scottish songs and guitarists), and friendly, attentive service (with Alisha specifically noted). The atmosphere is frequently highlighted as welcoming, chill, stylish, and vibrant. Popular dishes like the Reuben, fish and chips, pot roast sandwich, goat cheese appetizer, chicken bites with honey, and warm apple pie are often commended for their taste and generous portions. While some minor feedback mentioned the smash burger as 'ok', occasional inconsistencies in seafood flavor (Atlantic salmon, pan-seared cod), or soggy fries, the overall dining experience is highly recommended for its good food, good vibes, and great people.
Additional Details
Wexford is located in Savannah's bustling City Market. It offers perfectly poured drinks and has been favorably compared by a reviewer to Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs for its authentic Irish pub experience. It was also highly recommended by a bartender at the Prohibition Museum. The pub hosted a grand opening celebration weekend starting August 8th with live music by an accomplished Irish musician.
The pub can be busy, especially on Saturday nights, indicating its popularity. It's a lively spot, particularly on weekends, for those seeking a vibrant atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available and enjoyed on pleasant days, offering a great spot for people-watching in the City Market.
From authentic pours like Tennet's to hand crafted cocktails like the Irish Hope, this Irish pub delivers a welcoming atmosphere and hearty meals. If you like pub fare, you'll have a hard time deciding amongst the fish & chips or shepard's pie or corned beef. The colcannon was so delicious! But they also have unique takes on standard American food like burgers, grilled cheese/ tomato soup combo, or shrimp and grits (which were amazing! Shrimp, Andouille sausage and Irish bacon added to this protein packed dish!) The Celtic knot (giant pretzel) was a crowd pleaser for our table of 5. The kids' menu has the usual things kids like such as chicken tenders, mac'n'cheese, fries, etc., and crayons so they can color and do a word search. Clean bathrooms and a little gift shop round out a great dining experience. Some of us weren't quite finished with our coke or beer, so the server offered to-go cups for us. Loved being able to sip on my beer while walking around. 💖
Inside has a great vibe and outside had music and good people watching. Service was outstanding and she was very busy. Food was sub par. Lamb sliders were dry with a small portion of underseasoned french fries. The pot roast sandwich was delicious and came with au jus. Same underseasoned fries. Appetizer with whipped ricotta and honey was just ok. Due to the humidity and we were outside..pita chips were not crisp. Ricotta did not have much flavor. Maybe add some fresh herbs. We ate here last trip and it was good. Everyone has an off day. After reading the reviews...we are definetly going to give Wexfords another go.
What a beautiful, authentic Irish pub in the heart of Savannah. It's one of the few that transports you to Ireland as soon as you walk in.
Food, overall, was very good. Here are the highlights:
The shepard's pie was honestly the best one we have ever had - hands down. What a pleasant surprise!
The brie platter was what it was meant to be - tasty.
The chicken sandwich had an Asian flair, which was surprising, but tasty.
Side salad needed some help (little wilted) and the fries needed serious help. "Soda bread" was really Irish brown bread, but fortunately it was good.
Selection of beer and cocktails was great, as was the service and ambiance. We would absolutely go back.
Arrived to a very crowded Wexford Savannah’s Irish pub. Although we did not have a reservation, seating was available outside where there was live music. In the future, we will get a reservation so we can sit inside just to see the decor and ambience which I have heard is fantastic. Nevertheless, sitting outside was awesome, especially listening to the live music.
Ashley was our server and she was great. Very attentive and on top of everything.
We started with the Celtic Knot. For dinner we had the pot roast and shepherds pie. I highly recommend the shepherds pie. It is filling and delicious! To top it off, I had an Irish coffee and brownie. Yum!
The musician was fantastic and played a great set. Our crowd was into it on some songs which made it even more enjoyable. Overall, the food was delicious. Some of the best Irish food I’ve ever had at a reasonable price.
Next time we are in Savannah, we will return. Looking forward to it.
My honest take: I absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere of this place, it really feels like a cozy Irish bar/restaurant. The staff at the front were just okay; there were a few people at the host stand and they all seemed like they didn’t really want to be there. Our waiter, though, was great.
The food itself is excellent with tons of options. Unfortunately, I found a few long strands of hair in my sandwich, which was pretty unappetizing and took away from the experience.
Would I recommend this place - Yes but it wouldn't be my first in Savannah.
