Yesterday we have been in the Coal Drop Yard shop, and The super gentle Roberto served us very well and everything was fabulous (see the first pic). Therefore we decided to visit this second shop: what a delusion! The table was dirty with dried stains and despite the shop was empty we have to ask to clean it. Then we opt for a passion fruit - yuzu sorbet and that it was made with some not yet ripe fruit so the taste was definitely too much sharpe. — and in any case served with out a glass of water on the side. An unbelievable
Big disappointment.
We stopped by for a coffee, hot chocolate and ice cream. The passion fruit sorbet was delicious but for a luxury chocolate store with a famous name, we expected at least a real cup, and a minimum or service especially with the price. All came self serve almost, with paper cup, and all. The store is really beautiful but we were a it disappointed overall.
Run. Matcha raspberry was incredible. Not sure how such an Uji level matcha ice cream is available from a chocolate shop? Coffee also good. More seating has become available indoors although it can get loud. Poor acoustics
This place completely changed my perspective on chocolate. I did not know there were so many varieties of cocoa beans, each with a unique flavour profile that you can truly feel in every bite. Especially when you try them side by side.
I highly highly recommend their single origin selection. It's a MUST for any chocolate lover. While everything else is still top notch delicious and luxuriously textured, I found much of that unique cocoa taste is overpowered by the sweetness in their more sugary options (like pralines). You can always ask for a taste test if you're unsure.
It might seem expensive, but you're genuinely getting premium quality. The staff are also very knowledgeable and patient.
If you are a chocolate lover, you should come and pay a visit. I ordered their hot chocolate, and it was by far the best I’ve ever had. It was rich, mouthful, and indulgently smooth, with a perfect balance of sweetness and cocoa intensity. Each sip felt like a warm embrace, with a velvety texture that lingered on the palate and left me craving more. Truly, it’s an experience every chocolate enthusiast should treat themselves to!
