Lilac Tiger is a vibrant neighborhood bar in Chicago known for its bold South Asian bites and tropical cocktails. It offers a playful decor and a unique dining experience, making it a popular spot for a fun date night.
Customers generally praise the food, highlighting dishes like the Whipped Paneer, Vada Pav, Mushroom Curry, and Chettinad Curry as exceptional. The service, particularly from staff like Tesa, receives high marks for being attentive and energetic. While the cocktails are described as tropical and vibrant, one review noted they might not always align perfectly with the food flavors. Some customers have experienced long wait times for food, and a few found certain dishes to have clashing or overly sour flavor profiles, such as the shrimp toast or fried chicken and pancakes. Despite some mixed feedback on specific dishes, the overall experience is often described as unique and enjoyable.
The restaurant features a rotating series of guest bartenders, offering a different cocktail experience with each visit. The menu includes a variety of 'small bites' and 'large bites' designed for sharing, alongside creative cocktails and a selection of sake.
Lilac Tiger is open for dinner and late-night dining. It is closed on Mondays. Ideal times to visit would be Tuesday through Thursday evenings (5:00 pm - 10:00 pm) for a potentially less crowded experience, or Friday and Saturday evenings (5:00 pm - 11:00 pm) for a lively atmosphere. Sundays are also open from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
