Neptune Oyster

We arrived right at 11:00 a.m. and still had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. I'd recommend coming even earlier, as people start lining up before the restaurant opens. The lobster roll was excellent, and I liked that you can pick and choose the oysters you want. The uni was good as well, though it wasn't as impressive as I expected. Keep in mind that the space is very small, and we were seated at a shared table with other customers. That said, the seafood was incredibly fresh, and everything tasted great overall. I'd definitely come back.

This place had a line out the door to get in and you could watch the guy prepping plates of fresh oysters as they go out. They had a wide variety of oysters to pick from and they were all fresh and delicious, every single one I ordered. The shrimp were perfect and the lobster roll was so filling. Would definitely go back when I’m town! Also the wait staff was very friendly, pleasant and fun to interact with. Made the experience that much more enjoyable.

Looking for a selection of high-quality oysters in Boston? Neptune Oyster in the famed North End is the place! They have a wide selection of fresh New England oysters and clams, and daily/seasonal specials - the best I found during my visit. Try at least a dozen! The Maine-style lobster roll (buttery, warm chunks of fresh lobster on a soft pretzel-like bun that holds in all the deliciousness) with arugula salad was quite good. The clam chowder with oysters crackers, is a Boston staple. This place is popular, so be prepared to queue for a bit. Seating is a bit tight, too - but it's worth it.

Great restaurant for oysters and lobster rolls, but be prepared to wait. I would just come 15-30min before opening so you can be seated with the first seating. Very generous with lobster in lobster rolls, oysters super fresh and not too briney. Delicious calamari as well. Not too impressed with Johnny cake, and the clam chowder was too watery. Service was friendly, and prices were reasonable. I'd come back! Deserving of being Michelin Recommended.

Before visiting Neptune Oyster, I had already done my research and knew it was one of Boston's most popular restaurants. Every post, review, and recommendation warned about the wait, but wow - they were not exaggerating. We showed up around lunchtime (definitely not our smartest decision), and there was already a line stretching down the sidewalk. At first, my boyfriend and I debated whether it was worth waiting, but people just kept joining the line behind us. Between the crowd and the overwhelmingly positive reviews, we figured there had to be a reason for all the hype. In the end, I think we waited close to two hours. Looking back, that feels a little ridiculous, and I probably wouldn't do that again. That said, once you get inside, it makes more sense. The restaurant is tiny - much smaller than I expected - which explains why seating is so limited and the line grows so quickly. We ordered oysters and a lobster roll. The oysters were phenomenal and easily the best oysters we had during our entire vacation. Fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth ordering. The lobster roll was our first ever, and while I'm glad I can finally say I've tried one, it just wasn't my favorite thing. It was good and well-made, but I learned that lobster rolls simply aren't something I'd go out of my way for. The fries, however, were fantastic! Despite how busy the restaurant was, the service was impressively fast and efficient. The staff clearly know how to keep things moving while still providing a great experience. Overall, I'm glad we experienced Neptune Oyster because it's one of those iconic Boston restaurants that everyone talks about. The food was excellent, especially the oysters, and now I understand why it's so popular. My biggest piece of advice: plan accordingly. They don't take reservations, and if you're visiting during peak hours, be prepared for a very long wait.
