Nixta Taqueria

Nixta Taqueria was absolutely incredible! The farm-to-table concept, creative menu, and James Beard Award-winning chef make this place truly special. We started with the chips and dip and the refried beans cooked in duck fat, which were unbelievably delicious. Then came the duck carnitas taco, and it was so good I literally said “fire” four times. One of the best parts of the experience was having the chef personally deliver our food and take the time to chat with us. That level of warmth and hospitality made the meal even more memorable. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the pricing felt very fair for the quality and creativity of the food. Our server, Sam, was the icing on the cake. He was personable, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience even better. Nixta Taqueria is a must-visit. Five stars without hesitation!

I live in Austin and have wanted to try this place for a long time, the owners are famous for being part of a local "taco mafia" with some other local taco places. It took a while to order and get seated, plan to wait if it's a Friday night. The food was good, my table shared chips and 3 dips. Tasty but kinda small portion. I had the duck carnita, very filling and rich. That was enough food for me. The fermented pineapple drink was my favorite part of the meal. My partner had the carrot tostada which we were told was not that spicy, but guess what, it was so spicy that's all you could taste. The milk rice pudding dessert was super disappointing, way too sweet, rice wasn't fully cooked and again small portion. Regarding the atmosphere- the place is very cool and laid back, the garden is a great touch, most of the seating is picknik tables or chairs with no backs. To get a table with chairs we had to sit closer to the speakers and the noise was way too loud. We all had to yell over the music to have a conversation, not my thing. Overall the food was good but overpriced. This is a place for young Gen Z's who love standing in line for food, uncomfortable seating and overpaying.

My first visit here and I was impressed. The service is friendly and helpful. The vibe is lively and fun. Had duck carnitas and it was excellent and delicious. It's not what I expected from a taqueria but was pleasantly surprised.

My first time here, and it won't be my last. Delicious food and unique dishes. I especially enjoyed the duck confit carnitas tacos. Some beer and wine options. A little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Every bite was amazing. Get there early to beat the line!

There’s so much to love about Nixta - the food, the fresh ingredients, the flavors- but the service, the atmosphere and the people truly make this place special. I love eating there, picking it up or having it delivered- always good quality either way. Recently while having a tough night I ordered some comfort carnitas and a carrot tostada - their care (and their food) made my entire night. Love love love.
