I had lunch here and I loved it! The sushi and fish was incredible and I enjoyed watching Chef Masashi-san and his other chefs/staff cut the fish, grate the wasabi, and making the sushi.
Each sushi and dish was remarkable and the attention to detail was immaculate. The place was quiet and serene and Chef Masashi-san didn't speak that much at my lunch but I noticed he had this quiet cool confident demeanor and he was friendly to all the guests. Either he or the other chef/staff would explain the dish to us and the staff were attentive and friendly too.
It is close to the metro station and it could be hard to find. I accidentally went to the wrong building at first as I was met with a dental office and remember it's on the 7th floor. Once you reach the restaurant you'll know right away you're at the right place with it's beautiful decor and attentive staff.
Overall this might be the best sushi I've had and definitely would love come back another time!
Sushi Masashi is a masterclass in modern Edomae sushi. Located in a sleek, intimate space in Kita-Aoyama, Chef Masashi Yamaguchi delivers a Michelin-starred experience that feels personal and unpretentious. While the nigiri is technically flawless—featuring perfectly seasoned, high-acidity shari—the creative appetizers like the signature Tuna Sukiyaki truly set this omakase apart.
At approximately ¥40,000, it is a significant investment, but the quality of the fish and the chef’s engaging hospitality justify the price. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming to international diners, making it one of the most accessible high-end seats in Tokyo. Secure your reservation weeks in advance via OMAKASE; it is a mandatory stop for anyone seeking elite sushi outside the stiff formality of Ginza.

My visit to Sushi Masashi was an absolutely incredible experience. I was warmly welcomed by a staff member right at the entrance of the building and personally guided into the restaurant, which immediately made me feel valued as a guest.
The entire team, including the chef, was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional throughout the evening. Every dish we enjoyed was outstanding in both quality and taste, and the selection of sake complemented the meal perfectly.
I will definitely return on my next visit and can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone who truly appreciates excellent food.
Thank you to the entire team for such a wonderful and memorable evening!
We was fortunate to visit Sushi Masashi on our trip to Tokyo for the second time,
The place is a bit hard to find, just for info! On the 7th.floor of the building.
Very close to metro station.
The restaurant is divided in two sections, private dining area and counter dining.
When arrive, we are welcome by the
Waiter and placed to our spot.
Very minimalist decor like we expected in a Japanese shushi place.
The focus is on the food.
Beautifully prepared with a high quality of fish and shellfish, nicely presented the Omakase dinner felt like a dance of textures, colours, taste and craftsmanship.
One of the best Omakase that we have experienced in Tokyo.
Thanks to Master Masashi and his staff for a wonderful dinner.
I hope that the Michelin guide will recognise you with a second star ⭐️ soon.
One of the best omakase experiences I’ve ever had—if not the best. Absolutely everything about this place exceeded my expectations. From the food to the service and attention to detail, every aspect was exceptional. I only hope I’ll have the chance to come back someday!
