Bar Shrimp

As soon as you walk in you feel like you’ve been transported to a speak easy in NYC or a small jazz bar in Paris. Attentive service from all members of staff along with incredible cocktails and exceptional food made this a memorable visit. The stand out dish was the Scallop tartare which was paired with an elderflower oil, as soon as we had one we had to order another, a must order in my opinion.

Bar Shrimp is an absolute treat and quickly becoming one of my favourite spots in Manchester. I went specifically for their oyster happy hour and, without exaggeration, I think I had more oysters in one sitting than I ever have before – and every single one was fresh, briny, and beautifully presented. The quality-to-price ratio is outstanding, making it incredible value for money. The atmosphere is relaxed yet buzzing, with that effortless, cool neighbourhood vibe that makes you want to stay longer than planned. I paired the oysters with their Bar Shrimp Spritz, which was excellent – light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. It complemented the seafood beautifully and was ideal for easing into the evening. Even though I only went for oysters this time, the experience alone was enough to convince me that this place is doing something very right. I can’t wait to go back and properly explore the full menu. If you’re a seafood lover or just appreciate great food and drinks done well, Bar Shrimp is definitely one to have on your list.

Great new addition to MCR. First things first, the vibe on our visit was perfect - good music, good level of atmosphere, attentive service. Martinis were on point as were the oysters. New monkfish pasta was a surprise highlight, too. Would deffo recommend - try and get the high tables nearer the front/DJ. We’ll be back.
