Bub’s Bakery in the East Village is officially one of my new favorite spots 🍰✨
I went on a Sunday around 1pm and was pleasantly surprised that there wasn’t much of a wait. Even better, everything was fully stocked, which feels rare for a popular bakery in NYC.
I had to try the cinnamon bun… and wow. Easily the best one I’ve had in the city. It had this almost croissant-like flavor and texture, super flaky with a slightly caramelized finish that made it stand out from your typical bun. The icing on top pulled it all together perfectly… rich, sweet, and just the right amount 😍
I also grabbed the carrot cake and loved it. It was dense in the best way, super moist, and packed with flavor. Definitely one of those slices you keep thinking about after you leave.
They had a ton of other pastry options too, so I’d 100% come back to try more. Also really appreciated how dietary-friendly they are for anyone with allergies or restrictions.
Overall, such a solid bakery in the East Village. Worth the stop 🥐💛
As someone looking for vegan and gluten-free options, I was thrilled by how many choices they have here! Everything we tried was absolutely tasty. We ordered chocolate banana bread to go. Rosemary foccacia bread with plain cream cheese.
That being said, it is fairly expensive, so be prepared for a bit of a splurge. Also, the coffee was just okay—pretty basic and was too strong for me —but the bakery items completely make up for it. Will definitely be back for the baked goods!
Bub's Bakery is one of the most impressive bakeries I’ve visited in New York. The space is bright, welcoming, and always buzzing with energy, but what really stands out is the quality of the pastries. Everything feels thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented.
What makes this place truly special is that the entire menu is designed to be free from the top nine common allergens, including gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, and sesame, without sacrificing flavor or texture. The pastries taste just as indulgent and nostalgic as classic bakery treats, which is incredibly impressive given the level of dietary restrictions they accommodate.
Every bite feels carefully balanced, soft, flavorful, and perfectly baked rather than dense or dry like many gluten-free options. You can tell that a lot of innovation and care has gone into developing recipes that recreate traditional bakery favorites while remaining completely inclusive.
It’s a rare place where everyone can walk in and enjoy a proper bakery experience. Truly a gem in NYC and absolutely worth visiting.
I really loved this bakery.
I tried their cinnamon roll and another pastry (a blueberry biscuit, I believe), and both were absolutely excellent. I honestly don’t remember the last time I had a cinnamon roll that good.
There was a line when I arrived, but it moved quickly. I was also able to sit inside with a friend and enjoy everything there, which made the experience even better.
Definitely a spot I would come back to.
The cinnamon rolls are EXCELLENT!!! I will say, I been here 3 times and had a different consistency each time though. First time the rolls were very crispy/a little hard, as if they been sitting out awhile. Second time I got them straight out of the oven! Still a smidge over cooked and tough, but yummy. Third time was a charm! I got one that was soft and PERFECT. Smelled like they had come out of the oven not too long before I arrived. I scarfed it down 😋
I've also had the ginger snap cookies and savory danish, both yummy!
It's pricey, but that's the gluten tax. *Sigh*
