We had such a lovely experience at Coda. The waitress was so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. Stand out dishes for us were the duck liver, umeshu, sumac balls and the szechuan lamb 😮💨 so good. The dessert was amazing also. Thank you!
Dinner at Coda absolutely delivered last night. From the first cocktail to the final spoonful of dessert, everything hit the mark. The cocktails were fresh, vibrant and dangerously smooth — the perfect way to kick off an incredible meal.
The kaffir lime salmon gravlax was bright, delicate and beautifully balanced, while the tea smoked duck breast in Sichuan vinaigrette brought layers of smoky, spicy and aromatic flavours that worked insanely well together. The prawn fried rice was pure nostalgia in the best possible way — comforting, packed with flavour and impossible to stop eating.
Then came the steak with whipped butter and pepper… and wow. Cooked perfectly, full of flavour and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Simple things done exceptionally well always stand out, and this absolutely did.
Dessert sealed the deal with a stunning dark chocolate and hazelnut praline finished with wattle pollen. Rich, silky and beautifully balanced without being overly sweet — the perfect ending to the night.
What made the whole experience even better was the service. Super friendly, attentive and genuinely helpful staff who made the night feel relaxed and effortless.
Coda continues to prove why Melbourne’s dining scene is world class. Incredible food, smashing cocktails and hospitality done right.
So glad to finally get to try this place.
A fabulous setting on Flinders Lane in a basement, industrial chic, great lighting, & a good range of menu & drink choices.
The food was amazing. Flavours were well balanced & delicious, and we were very happy with our choices. Presentation was excellent & designed for sharing except the appetisers. I would have liked to try each one of them, but this is a pricey restaurant for my usual dining budget.
I found it to be a noisy atmosphere & hard to hear at times.
The service was not up to scratch for the prices - unfortunately I felt we were a little ignored.
I found the Crispy Lamb dish to be chewy (but not my companions) & the Roti was more like foccasia but still good.
The Tea Soaked Duck was my favourite dish of the evening along with the parfait desert.
Well worth the dining experience
Came here for a work dinner and left mind-blown. The food was top-notch, some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome, and the wine selection was excellent. A must-try hidden gem in Melbourne CBD. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Vegan food all really yummy, restaurant has a great ambience and service fantastic!
They have a separate vegan / vegetarian menu with some great options.
Only suggestion is to post the vegan / vegetarian menu in the website so people know there is one. When I booked through Open Table it had a specific note that they cannot always cater to vegans and to call and check - but then there was a separate paper menu in the restaurant.
