Customer Perception
Customers praise HOKO for its authentic Hong Kong atmosphere and nostalgic decor, reminiscent of traditional Cha Chaan Tangs. Popular dishes include the French Toast and Hong Kong Milk Tea. Some reviews mention that popular dishes can sell out, and there can be queues or slow ordering processes. Table sharing is a common experience, and while food quality is generally good, some have noted occasional service issues leading to colder food.
Weekdays (Tuesday-Friday, 12:00-20:30) might be less crowded than weekends (Saturday-Sunday, 09:00-18:30). Visiting earlier in the day is recommended to ensure availability of all popular dishes, as some tend to sell out.
Eventually got a chance to visit this Hong Kong style restaurant on a Sunday. We came at 2:30pm and did not need to wait much. However, there was only one food ordering machine at the front counter which took customers quite a bit of time to complete the orders one customer after another. Customers were required to made the orders with the machine, pay and then go half a floor down to the dining area with the order receipt. The internal decor was more like the Hong Kong Cha Chaan Tang feel and table sharing with other customers was expected. Initially I wanted to have their baked pork chop rice but it was sold out already. They didn’t say how many baked pork chop rice provided in a day. This could be a hunger marketing tactic. We then ordered the deep fried pork chop rice and Charsiu rice which all came with a well fried egg. The food came within five minutes and I liked their scallion oil and the cooked soy sauce very much. The rice portion was perhaps good for Asian stomach size. The five quid milk tea brought back the good old Hong Kong taste.
Reminds me of those nostalgic HK Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong 🥹 with Western-Chinese hybrid menus. The decors and dishes remain as identical as they are!
Came in close to their last orders so most dishes got sold out, still great to dine in!
Pork chop rice w scallion oil and 瑞士雞翼are delish! Drinks are authentic too.
This is a very high-quality Hong Kong-style tea restaurant in London. I highly recommend the French toast – it's a must-order. The newly introduced baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce is also quite good. I especially love their satay beef noodle soup; although it's a bit pricey, if you like satay beef, it's a must-try. As for drinks, the iced lemon tea is excellent. Friends who love Hong Kong flavors will definitely be addicted. I'll definitely come back sometime.
I wasn’t blown away by the food here unfortunately, I expected more from reading the reviews. The tofu steak with rice was good but not anything special, the spring onion sweet soy sauce helped give it flavour. The Hong Kong milk tea was fine and probably the best thing I had was the HK French toast but I love French toast in general. Also have to mention that my food was just left on the side until I asked about it which meant that everything arrived colder than normal. I don’t like complaining but i feel like the service could’ve been better. Hopefully this was just a one off bad experience :( Still worth checking out for the great decor and aesthetic of the place.
Man, I will get give the full stars just because of the experience it feels very local in Chinese and Hong Kong. these there and had the coffee milk tea combo with the French toast and I would just say it's very chilly. you could just relax and have a good time and have bring your own water or or use there. then I have AC blasting in the summer. it was just like vibes man like I would definitely just go back cuz I need it as a stable in the community
