Lighthaus Cafe

First things first, the atmosphere was amazing. The place was cute, clean, and felt really welcoming from the moment we walked in. We ordered The American, the Plantain Pancakes, two drinks, and a slice of Tahini Cake. Overall, the food was okay, there were a few things that were really great and a few that were a little underwhelming. My hot chocolate and my girlfriend's cappuccino were both really good. They were on the milder side, which SHE actually liked because they weren't overly rich or sweet, I’m the opposite however it was still very nice. That said, they could've been served a bit hotter. The tahini cake was recommended as it was homemade. I used to love tahini, so I had to give it a try. The cake itself was a little dry, but the sauce definitely made up for it. Maybe nostalgia made me biased idk. The bacon was slightly burnt/overcooked in places and ended up a bit too dry. The pancakes also felt a little dry? On the other hand, the plantain and the hash browns were genuinely amazing. I never used to like plantain, so that was a shocker The service wasn't the best either, it just felt a little off, if that makes sense. I don't like criticising service because I know how difficult hospitality can be, and it certainly wasn't bad. It just didn't quite feel that “warm”. That said, our entire meal came to just £42 and I left absolutely stuffed, which doesn't happen often. For the price, it's hard to complain. If you're in the area and fancy a breakfast or brunch, I'd say it's worth a look. Finding breakfast spots at this price in London isn't easy.

The food was full and well decorated. I ordered heavenly pancakes. It was nice but pancakes were not fresh, just typical pancakes. My friends ordered turkish breakfast and veggie on the edge which they liked it and looks very good. The 🥐 was good apparently as my friends tried it. Overall good.

Very good breakfast. Avocado on sourdough topped with pouched eggs, came out great, looking good and taste as well. Spaghetti bolognese little bit too oily, quite big portion tho. Good coffee. Could recommend 🤍

Love the venue - many things on their menu are amazing (salads/sandwiches/omelettes). On this occasion, ‘Pancake Heaven’ (£12) was ordered. Sad to say that it was not heavenly at all. The assortment of fruits on the plate were cute and added to the overall presentation - but the promised ‘fluffy pancakes’ seemed to be no different than the small scotch pancakes you can grab at your local Tesco. Their texture was not appetizing. All in our group who had pancakes with our individual meals were left disappointed - and the pancakes remained mainly untouched. The Turkish Eggs tho, unmatched. Deffo recommend.

A great little cafe opposite London South Bank University. They have a hidden basement dining room if upstairs gets busy. Very nice breakfasts including things like flapjacks, full English, and a Turkish option. Usually very busy and buzzing.
