I just walked passby and have no expectation to this place, just attracted by the “Frankfurter” hot dog from their menu, so I ordered it with sea salt chips, and honestly, it absolutely made my day! 😋
The hot dog isn’t a huge portion, but the quality and taste are seriously banging. There are so many layers of texture and flavour happening in every bite — it’s delicious and surprisingly unique.
The fresh cucumber, red pepper, and mustard sauce on top of the sausage add such a nice freshness. And the sausage itself is juicy, rich, and incredibly fragrant. The bread is also beautifully crunchy, and somehow it reminded me of the garlic bread I once had at a really good Italian restaurant.
The staff were lovely as well and took the time to introduce me to their brand and explain that it originally comes from Turkey. Honestly, it completely changed my impression of Turkish food beyond the usual shawarma 😆
Next time, I definitely want to try the Thai Chili, which the staff recommended — and funnily enough, that was actually the one I was already thinking about trying!
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place to my friends and would happily come back again. And who knows… maybe one day I’ll even go to Turkey and try the original there! 🇹🇷😋
Bit of a mixed review from me;
I visited ZULA after work for a quick bite around 6pm this week and it was fairly busy. I ordered the basic burger with cheddar, caramelised onion, pickle relish, and truffle mayo.
I will say it was very tasty , I’m someone who doesn’t like pickle relish but thought I’d give it a try and it completed the burger although it was not a particularly large burger for £10.50. That said, I’ve since noticed the menu mentions the buns are made fresh in house.
The French fries on the side were £4.50, which I felt was overpriced for the portion size. They are served in a chip bucket, but once poured out, you can see how deceiving the portion actually is.
In terms of service, the table could have done with a better wipe down. The server saw me come in and sit down, and although I got the menu myself as it was busy, it did take a little while to be acknowledged. Another customer who came in after me was also served first, which was slightly disappointing however the food didn’t take long to arrive, and the waiting time was fine considering how busy it was.
One thing I was genuinely disappointed with was the state of the toilets. There was no tissue and no visible cleaning rota, and you can tell no maintenance had been done all day in both which was quite off putting.
You don’t come to a place like this to eat in the toilets, of course, but I do think clean facilities are important as they reflect on the overall standard of the restaurant.
Overall, the burger was enjoyable and the concept behind the place is good , but value for money and cleanliness could definitely be improved.
3/5 from me
Zula is a brilliant burger restaurant!
Good quality, nicely priced. Simple menu allows customer spend less time choosing a menu.
Basic burger: A juicy Petty was nicely harmonised with fluffy buns and truffle mayo sauce.
Chips: Lovely crispy chips were perfectly cooked.
Thai chilli burger: Surprisingly you will find typical Thai flavour with your first bite. Just right level spicy, well balanced burger.
Will definitely visit again to try other menus. Love this place.
Exceptional burger. I ordered the BIG and it was phenomenal. Patties cooked perfectly and onions caramelized to the extent that they reached a higher plane of enightenment. Luxurious and decedent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. 10/10 experience
Hands down my favourite burger spot in London. The quality of the ingredients really stands out, the burgers are fantastic, and the homemade brioche buns are delicious. I love the attention to detail, from the branding to the interiors. The terrace has such a relaxed, laid-back vibe, making it the perfect spot to unwind with great food. The team are genuinely friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit!
