To call Mary Lou’s Montauk a “restaurant” would be an egregious act of linguistic austerity. Mary Lou’s is less a dining establishment and more a bacchanalian fever dream—an opulent, cosmopolitan vortex where gastronomy, revelry, and unmitigated Hamptons absurdity collide with the force of a small celestial event.
I arrived expecting dinner. I left several hours later spiritually recalibrated, emotionally wealthier, and moderately uncertain whether what I had experienced was even legal in all 50 states.
The evening began innocently enough: a cocktail, a few immaculate plates, impeccable service. Then, somewhere between the first bite and the second martini, the gravitational field of Mary Lou’s took hold. The room began to hum. Beautiful strangers became lifelong confidants. Dinner reservations became diplomatic summits. Someone at the next table ordered another bottle with the confidence of a 19th-century railroad tycoon. I briefly considered purchasing a horse.
The food? Preposterously good. The cocktails? Dangerous instruments of social mobility. The atmosphere? Imagine Gatsby survived the swimming pool, discovered electronic music, acquired impeccable taste, and opened a restaurant in Montauk.
By the end of the night, time itself had become largely theoretical. I had forgotten my responsibilities, forgiven my enemies, and developed several aggressive opinions about where we should all summer next year.
Five stars feels woefully inadequate. Give Mary Lou’s a Michelin star, a Nobel Prize, and sovereign territory.
I came for dinner.
I left with lore.
This place is amazing! Dj Benjamin Lloyd was 10/0 and the service was the best I’ve ever had in the Hamptons. Specifically Nat and Elaina were so attentive, helpful and fun the entire night! Loved the cookies except a little flake salt would make them even better! Will definitely be coming back every time I’m in town!
Marylou’s is such a great addition to Montauk. I’ve been a few times for drinks and a night out and always have the best time. Great music, fun energy, and they do an amazing job curating the crowd and overall experience. Definitely one of my favorite spots for a night out in Montauk!
This is a new must try hot spot in Montauk. We started with the fried chicken croquettes and the oyster mushrooms. The mushrooms are a MUST. They were so fire. Then We ordered the lobster pasta that was absolutely fantastic and the miso white fish that was so delicious. The restaurant itself has a very sexy vibe. It also turns into a night club late in the evening. I recommend doing a late dinner there and then dance the night away. I 10/10 recommend adding this to your itinerary if you are taking a trip out there
The music was a lot of fun and the interior is really cool and retro. Love the vibe and the energy. My friends and I had a great time dancing all night!
