After a disappointing first experience earlier this year, I decided to give Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant another chance — and I’m really glad I did.
This visit completely turned things around.
From the moment we sat down, the service was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel valued. Our server was incredible and made the whole night feel smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. She was knowledgeable, warm, and created the kind of dining experience you hope for when going out. I wish I remembered her name, but she’s in the photos attached to this review — and she deserves a huge shoutout because she was absolutely amazing.
The food was outstanding. We started with the Yuca frita with chipotle mayo, and it was the perfect appetizer — crispy, flavorful, and addictive. For the entrée, the Chicken Suiza Enchiladas were rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. The tomatillo salsa paired perfectly with the slow-cooked chicken and melted cheeses.
The standout of the night was the Rib eye steak — an 18 oz prime bone-in ribeye cooked beautifully, topped with guajillo butter and tequila green peppercorn sauce. Paired with the jalapeño-cheddar potato au gratin and cebollita, it was easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in Vegas.
To top it off, the Old Fashioned with Telson Reposado and Del Maguey Vida mezcal was smoky, smooth, and balanced perfectly.
I also want to acknowledge James for personally reaching out after our previous visit and taking accountability. That kind of follow-through matters, and it’s the reason we gave Mijo another shot. This time, they delivered.
This was the experience we were hoping for the first time around, and I can confidently say we’ll be back.
