**FROM SCONES TO MEDIOCRITY: A BAKERY LOSING ITS WAY** This baked goods shop was once a standout destination, celebrated for its fresh bread and an unusually refined selection of pastries. Sadly, it appears to be losing its way. The most significant change is the loss of its two signature offerings: a proper English scone—dry, unsweetened, and done right—and a French canelé, a rare find. These two unique pastries were precisely what set this shop apart from the countless other bakeries in the area. Their absence from the menu is a real blow to the shop's identity. What has replaced them is disappointing: an assortment of humdrum goods including pre-packaged cookies, wines, and flowers. These items belong in a convenience store, not in a specialty bakery. To compound the problem, the small space has been crammed with dried goods that spill from shelves onto the floor, making the shopping experience physically uncomfortable. Maneuvering through the shop now requires rubbing shoulders with other customers and invading their personal space. The staff, to their credit, remain committed and helpful—a bright spot in an otherwise declining experience. But warm service cannot compensate for the absence of the very products that made this bakery worth visiting in the first place. We hope the owners reconsider their direction before they lose the loyal customers their quality once earned. As ordinary consumers, we are not paid or compensated in any way for this review.
